Oak Creek Ranch
Why here?
There is a strong demand for authentic experiences that offer one the opportunity to recharge ones batteries, reflect, rest and retreat from the pressures of everyday life. This, for example, prompts business groups to seek unique environments for retreats; families to travel to Montana or Colorado for the guest ranch experience. It is the same motivation that prompted development of the Great Camps in the East Coast, including Camp David for our Presidents.
In 1903, Teddy Roosevelt visited San Luis Obispo County and suggested a National Park for the California Foothills for this kind of unique setting. That never happened. Wed like to think our property and improvements are in keeping with what such a Lodge for a California Foothills National Park would be like.
- The property has been used for recreation and visitor serving uses for much of the last 30 years.
- The property has not been impacted by agricultural development or cattle grazing thus presenting a relatively pristine nature setting.
- The property is adjacent to the national forest, which presents additional trails for biking and hiking.
- The property, though somewhat remote, is served by an excellent road from Santa Margarita described as the "best drive in San Luis Obispo County" by AAA magazine.
- The property has a developed Lodge and Pool, and other infrastructure that is more than adequate to comfortably accommodate the intended users in a high quality fashion.
- At 1800 feet elevation, in rolling oak hills, the property has a microclimate that makes its temperatures frequently in between the temperatures of San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles. It is inviting in all four seasons, with each season presenting different recreational emphasis.
- According to national surveys, the highest ranking pleasure activities are walking, reading, biking and swimming, which are featured activities at The Oak Creek Ranch.
- This is in the middle of the state equally accessible from San Francisco and Los Angeles. It is also a surprisingly reasonable driving time from both Santa Barbara and Silicon Valley.
- The property is removed from the background road noise that is inescapable without a relatively remote location.
- With no ambient light it is an ideal site for a star gazing, observatory location for visitors of the guest ranch. "Get away from it all" and "freeway close" are, after all, mutually exclusive.
We offer a unique combination of modern quality and an uncorrupted California countryside location that is largely like it was 200 years ago. Perhaps this is the authentic California Experience.
